This Eric Carle book focuses on different types of cats and cultures. The match ups used in this Pocket of Time is the hat on the person's head and the cat on the pull out card. In my opinion, Eric Carle is a genius. There are so many layers to this book that at first you may pass it over as simple book. But looking closely allows you to teach the child about people in different lands, different types of cats, and even how to ask a question using proper grammar! The Pockets of Time for this book help a child reference a book and make the correct match. Motor skills are used by picking up and placing the matching cards into the pocket and sliding the picture through the view finder.
